Hey there,
I’m very excited to share my first song with you!
Now, that’s a sentence I never thought I’d write, though, to be fair, making music has always been a secret dream of mine. I just assumed I lacked the talent to do it .
For better or worse, modern tech is starting to level out the playing field and with the help of AI, I’m now able to bring more ideas to life. Of course, lyrics remain 100% written by me, the old school way.
The song’s called Somewhere. And honestly, that’s exactly where I feel right now – somewhere between poetry, music, and seeing where this road leads.
Hit play and wander with me on a journey of love, hope and the promise that the unknown roads hold.
You can also find the song on most major streaming platforms (and maybe add it to a playlist… or a few 🙂). Here are the links to some of them:

Behind the Lines
Lyrics origin
If you’ve been following Vanauthor for a while, you might’ve had a déjà vu moment with the chorus. That’s because it comes from a poem I wrote a couple of months ago – one that a lot of you flagged as a favorite.
So I basically used it as a backbone of the song, but this time I also added two characters and built up on the storyline. It’s astonishing how a few lines can paint an entirely different picture.
“Miss” to “darling”
When my two characters first meet, they are complete strangers, which is hinted by the formal “Miss“.
However, in the end this shifts in order to highlight their willingness to take a chance.
Sometimes, one small detail does the job of a thousand words.
Musical influences
In my post about the original poem, I wrote about its literary influences. But when it comes to melody that’s a bit harder to pin down.
Except for the saxophone. The inspiration there came from what, for me, is the greatest sax solo of all time, performed by Clarence Clemons in Jungleland – well worth your 3 minutes, trust me!
Anything you’d like to ask?
Here’s an upgrade to my “Behind the Lines“ format. I’ll answer any questions you have about this particular song in the comments, should you wish to ask anything 🙂
That’s all, folks!

Well done! 🙌 I’ve saved your work to my Spotify - and thank you.
