I needed a proper home for my work.
Something that’d serve as the starting point for new readers and introduce my latest project, the 5D poetry collection.
The first point of contact for anyone who discovers me outside of Substack (e.g. through ads).
So, I built a website.
And I’ve got to say that I’m really proud of the result in every aspect – copy, structure, aesthetics, creative solutions, etc.
Here’s a little preview of the home page:
Let me also share a few details from my website that I think you’ll love:
🖋️ A random poem generator that types out pieces I’ve written. You never know what you'll get, adding an element of surprise and a personal experience.
→ vanauthor.com/random-poems🎧 A song-recommendation tool that matches my songs based on how you feel, instead of just showcasing all my song. This brings a very personal touch to discovering my work and makes it a lot more likely for you to connect to it.
→ vanauthor.com/songs🫙 And a tiny aesthetic detail – an inkwell icon slowly filling as you scroll.
⭐ A cheeky social proof (photo below) – because even if your numbers aren’t all that impressive yet, you can still be human
Of course, there are always things to optimize.
And I keep adding small interactive elements and artistic touches to turn the site into an experience.
But I’d love to see what you think. Take a look around, see what I’m building and let me know in the comments 🙌
See you on the next page ✍️,
Dimitar
